Who We Are
Nottingham Social Impact was developed through conversations with local people across Nottingham. By listening to individuals from different backgrounds, ages, and life experiences, we identified shared challenges around loneliness, isolation, and the lack of welcoming spaces where people feel comfortable being themselves.
These insights highlighted the need for inclusive environments where people can connect naturally, share experiences, and access support without pressure or barriers.
Community voices continue to guide our work, ensuring everything we do is grounded in lived experience rather than assumptions.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating inclusive, community-led spaces that help people connect, feel supported, and build meaningful relationships.
We work alongside individuals and communities to encourage understanding, shared experiences, and wellbeing through listening, collaboration, and participation that is open to everyone.
OUR VISION
Our vision is a connected, confident, and thriving community where people of all ages and backgrounds feel a strong sense of belonging.
We believe in neighbourhoods where people look out for one another, differences are respected, and support is accessible, welcoming, and shaped by real community needs.
What We Do
Our support and activities are shaped by the people who take part in them. We create inclusive, relaxed, and welcoming spaces that encourage connection, reduce loneliness, and respond to the real needs and experiences of our local community. Some examples of the practicals support and community signposting we offer can be found in the case studies below.
Case Study 1
Ms Sheikh approached Nottingham Social Impact while experiencing significant stress and uncertainty regarding her housing benefit claim with Nottingham City Council. Due to a language barrier, she found it particularly challenging to understand the required documentation and complete the necessary forms, prompting her to seek support.
A dedicated caseworker was assigned to assist her and conducted a comprehensive review of her circumstances and paperwork. Following this, a clear action plan was implemented, and effective communication was established with Nottingham City Council.
As a direct result of this intervention, Ms Sheikh’s housing benefit was successfully reinstated and backdated, providing her with financial stability and peace of mind. This case highlights Nottingham Social Impact ability to deliver tailored, accessible support and achieve positive outcomes for individuals facing complex barriers
Case Study 2
Ms Ilahi approached Nottingham Social Impact CIC while experiencing considerable pressure from the Jobcentre to secure employment, alongside challenges relating to her health. Due to a language barrier, she found it difficult to fully understand the requirements placed upon her and to communicate her circumstances effectively.
Nottingham Social Impact CIC provided dedicated, tailored support by assigning a caseworker who took the time to understand Ms Ilahi’s individual needs, including her health considerations and employment limitations. The caseworker offered clear guidance, advocacy, and practical assistance, helping her navigate Jobcentre expectations and explore suitable opportunities.
Through this person-centred approach, Ms Ilahi was supported in identifying and securing appropriate employment as a passenger assistant with a local taxi firm. This aligned with her health needs and personal circumstances. This outcome not only reduced the pressure she was experiencing but also improved her confidence and overall wellbeing. The case highlights Nottingham Social Impact CIC’s commitment to empowering individuals facing multiple barriers and achieving sustainable, positive outcomes.
